While completing my Masters in Landscape Archaeology in the School of Archaeology, UCD, I was involved, with my co-editor Niall Kenny, in the re-launch and re-design of Trowel. Trowel is a journal that focuses on publishing archaeological research produced by early stage researchers in archaeology.
For Trowel X we introduced a new layout and full-colour format. New additions also included book reviews and a 'reflections' section. In this section we gathered together thoughts, ideas and personal viewpoints on archaeology in Ireland from a diverse range of people including Nobel laureate Seamus Heaney, then taoiseach Bertie Ahern and former taoiseach Charles Haughey.
