PhD 2007-2010
I began my PhD studies in the UCD School of Archaeology in September 2007 and I am due to finish in September 2010. My supervisors are Dr. Aidan O'Sullivan and Dr. Helen Lewis
From February to April 2008 I was a Marie Curie visiting researcher at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London under the supervision of Thilo Rehren and Marcos Martinon-Torres.
M.A. (Hons) 2004-2005
In 2005 I was awarded a first class honours Masters degree in Landscape Archaeology by UCD.
My dissertation focused on a technological and landscape analysis of a surface lithic scatter from Lambay Island, Co. Dublin. I analysed the assemblage using traditional lithic analysis integrated with a Geographical Information System (GIS) to provide a landscape perspective on prehistoric settlement on the island.
I also received the Rúaidhrí de Valera Memorial Prize for achieving the highest marks of any MA student in the School of Archaeology in my year.
B.A. (Hons) 2001-2004
I started my undergraduate studies at UCD following a year working in the retail and shipping industries. I studied Archaeology, History and Greek and Roman Civilisation in my first year, subsequently choosing Archaeology and History as joint majors in my second and third years. Most of my history courses focused on the medieval period, complementing my archaeological interests but I also took a couple of modern courses.
I received a 1.1 in Archaeology and a 2.1 in History and was awarded a UCD postgraduate scholarship on the basis of my mark in Archaeology, the highest in my BA year.
